Yet, more than a million taxpayers have unknowingly left money on the table—stimulus funds that were meant to provide relief during the pandemic.

The IRS has issued a final call for eligible individuals to claim their uncollected payments before the fast-approaching April 15 deadline.

Additionally, some state-specific payments, like Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend and Ohio’s tax refunds, are also available this month.

If you haven’t checked your eligibility, now is the time to act and ensure you receive every dollar owed to you.

Unclaimed Pandemic Relief Stimulus Payments: Deadline Approaching

Millions of Americans may still be eligible for unclaimed stimulus funds distributed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These payments were originally part of the Economic Impact Payments (EIP) and can be claimed through the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC).

Who Qualifies?

  • Taxpayers who did not receive one or more stimulus checks during the pandemic.

  • Individuals who didn’t file a 2021 tax return but were eligible for stimulus payments.

  • Those who mistakenly left the Recovery Rebate Credit section blank or entered $0 on their 2021 return.

How Much Can You Get?

  • The maximum federal stimulus payment available is $1,400 per person.

How to Claim It?

  • File a 2021 tax return (if you haven’t already) by the IRS deadline of April 15, 2025.

  • The IRS has been issuing payments since December 2024, either by direct deposit or paper check.

  • If you received an IRS letter stating that you are eligible, act fast before the deadline passes.

State-Specific Stimulus Payments in April 2025

In addition to unclaimed federal stimulus funds, some states are still issuing stimulus-related payments or refunds.

Ohio: Tax Refunds for 40,000 Residents

  • Nearly 40,000 taxpayers in Ohio have unclaimed tax refunds from the 2021 tax year.

  • Refund amounts vary but average around $762 per household.

  • If you lived and worked in Ohio during 2021, check with the Ohio Department of Taxation to see if you’re eligible.

Alaska: $1,702 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) Payments

  • Alaska residents may receive a stimulus payment through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD).

  • The 2025 PFD payout is $1,702, a significant increase from last year’s $1,312.

  • Applications were open from January 1 to March 31, 2025. If you applied, expect a payment soon.

  • Check the Alaska PFD website (pfd.alaska.gov) for payment status updates.

Don’t Miss Out on Financial Aid

With economic uncertainty and rising costs, every dollar counts.

If you haven't received your full pandemic relief payments or qualify for state-specific stimulus programs, now is the time to check your eligibility and claim your money.

  • File your 2021 tax return before April 15, 2025, if you’re missing a stimulus check.

  • If you live in Ohio or Alaska, check your eligibility for state refunds and payments.

  • Stay updated with the IRS and state tax departments to avoid missing future financial aid opportunities.

Every year, millions of dollars go unclaimed simply because people don’t realize they’re eligible. Make sure you’re not leaving your stimulus money on the table!
