October 2026 SNAP payment dates

*New York uses a staggered issuance system. The October 1–9 dates may represent part of the state’s monthly distribution window rather than one payment date for every household.

These dates are statewide payment windows, not a guarantee that every household will receive benefits on the same day. Your exact deposit may depend on a case number, client ID, last name or another state-assigned factor.

SNAP maximum benefits increase October 1

October 1 marks the beginning of federal Fiscal Year 2027. New SNAP maximum allotments will apply in the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C.

Larger households receive higher maximums. Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands have separate benefit levels.

The increase does not mean every SNAP household will receive more money automatically. Your actual benefit depends on household income, deductions, household size and other eligibility rules. Many households receive less than the maximum amount.

Hawaii is expected to see a slight decrease because its allotment is calculated using a separate Thrifty Food Plan adjustment.
