Holiday Relief: Are You Eligible for These Last-Minute Stimulus Payments?

As Christmas and the New Year draw closer, many Americans are feeling the squeeze of high living costs and inflation.

While federal stimulus checks may be on pause until 2025, some state programs are stepping up to provide much-needed relief.

Here’s what you need to know about the last-minute stimulus payments that could help brighten your holiday season.

Colorado’s TABOR Refund: A Holiday Bonus for Mesa County Residents

Residents of Mesa County, Colorado, are getting an unexpected holiday surprise thanks to the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR).

This law requires excess government revenue to be refunded to taxpayers.

In 2023, Mesa County collected over $11.4 million beyond its TABOR limit.

As a result, each registered voter aged 18 or older as of November 25, 2024, will receive a $100 refund.

These checks began mailing out during the week of December 16, 2024.

For many, this refund could mean a little extra cash for holiday shopping, bills, or even treating the family to a festive dinner.

Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend: A Boost for Eligible Residents

If you’re in Alaska, the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program might have good news for you.

This program distributes a portion of the state’s oil and natural resource revenues to residents.

For those classified as “Eligible-Not Paid” for their 2024 (and earlier) applications, a payment of $1,312 will hit bank accounts or mailboxes on December 19, 2024. Over 600,000 Alaskans are set to benefit.

Looking ahead, another round of payments will go out on January 16, 2025, for those still listed as “Eligible-Unpaid” on January 8, 2025. This ensures no qualifying resident is left behind.

Why These Payments Matter?

These targeted relief payments come at a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet.

Whether it’s stretching the grocery budget, covering utility bills, or creating a memorable holiday experience for loved ones, these funds provide a much-needed lifeline.

How to Make the Most of This Relief

  1. Check Your Status: If you’re in Mesa County or Alaska, make sure your voter registration or PFD application is up to date.
  2. Plan Your Spending: Use these funds to address urgent needs or save for future expenses.
  3. Stay Informed: Keep an eye out for updates on similar programs in your area.

These payments are just a glimpse of the many financial aid opportunities available to Americans during challenging times. Understanding how to access and maximize these benefits can make a world of difference.
